Source of Recipe: Tasty’s One Pot Chicken Fajita Pasta
During one of my late nights scrolling through the Tasty app, I found this recipe that sounded like it was straight off a Chili’s menu – Chicken Fajita Pasta. This feisty pasta looked just like something I’d imagine one of those Mexican and Italian combination restaurants (why do they exist!) would serve up.
I’ve also been fascinated with one-pot pasta meals since I hate washing dishes! Other than Hamburger Helper, this is my first try at creating a one-pot recipe.
My thoughts:
- Please season your chicken!
For some reason, Tasty’s creators rarely mention seasoning chicken before cooking which gives the meat
2. Wrong Serving Size
This pasta makes way more than two servings. My boyfriend, Mike, and I felt like we were eating pasta for days.
3. This is Bland!
As a Texan transplanted in Georgia, I thought I was the only one thinking this pasta was bland, but my spice-fearing boyfriend and his parents thought the same thing. This meal just really lacked any luster!
I thought that the pasta would at least get a little kick from the pepper jack cheese but there wasn’t even a hint of heat! Some people have mentioned that by exchanging two of the cups of milk with chicken stock their pasta had more flavor.
It seems that the recipe’s called for 5 cups of milk killed any flavor that the pasta might have had to offer.
Is this recipe worth another try?
After my first attempt, I don’t think I’ll be giving this recipe another shot for a long time. Other than this pasta being underwhelming, I don’t think I like soggy bell peppers…ick.
Maybe one day I’ll have a grand epiphany for modifications to conduct on this recipe and be able to create the Chili’s restaurant style Chicken Fajita pasta I dreamed of.
